i kind of went in with the same view: came for the sibling dynamics between Hollow & Ghost (mainly) + Hollow & PK family dynamics. Then I happened upon a single line in another fic that ripped my heart out and sent me into a recontextualisation night-long spiral. (misread the tags on it, oop) The line was "And it felt terribly alone without her." Hollow @ Radi.

So yeah, that was the first ship I got into. It resonated with me very hard due to some history, so I was able to really... care about it and the dynamics at play. (my aro ass needs to get very invested to ship characters lol)

BUT enough intro, let me actually ramble:

RadiHollow is the first of my two ships. It's based on several factors, first of them being that those two spent an indefinite (I personally headcanon 300-400 years) amount of time completely isolated from the world. Alone with only each other for company. We know that Radi is horrible at loneliness, her history/the entire thing with Higher Beings requiring worship to live alludes to it a lot: the whole reason the infection broke out was that she'd been forgotten by the moths. Left behind. Left alone. The next factors are my own view of their characters. Radi as I write her is an extremely self-centered person, incapable of ever admitting any fault, incapable of ever being wrong, incapable of ever not being in control. She's manipulative and very emotionally abusive in an... insidious, "you just can't appreciate my love", way. So not "hehe torture fun". Hollow is someone who never viewed themself as a real person. Their feelings, wants, thoughts are not important. They have not experienced kindness for who they were. They also tend to blame themself for anything bad that happens. Couple those two in complete isolation (which, isolation is one of the first steps an abuser will take to gain control over their victim), with Radi showing Hollow genuine kindness despite their failure, despite them being her enemy, despite everything. She has an "I will fix you" mentality; she sees them as a poor, downtrodden person who only needs to be loved enough to fall on her side. To see that she was right all along. They hate each other, of course. They want to watch each other burn. They want to burn together. Radi wants to enter the new dawn together with them. They want to go down in flames together with her. They hate her, but the kindness makes it hard to only hate her. She hates them, but their empathy and responsiveness, their presence and pushback make it hard to only hate them.

Grollow is the second one, and it has direct relation to all the stuff I've said up there. I headcanon Grimm and Radi as siblings (""? as much as beings of pure magic can be siblings. their relationship is definitely familial), which means that Grimm is very intimately familiar with all of Radi's antics: the gaslighting, the manipulation, the blame-everyone-around, the disregard for his feelings, the blindness to what her love does to him. He's someone that understands Hollow, post-Radi. He's someone that knows what they've gone through. He's someone who's had similar experiences and had time to heal from them. He's someone who hates watching them suffer at her hands. And he's someone who sees them for the absolute mess that they are, knows most of what Radi could've done to them mentally and is willing to stay by their side. And somewhere along the way, they fall for each other. Somewhere along the way, Hollow grows comfortable with showing themself, with being themself. They stop clinging to their history with Radi, they grow past their (frankly, awful) learned responses. They realise just how much he's done for them, and they want to be the best version of themself, to be his support - if he will let them. He draws out the best in them. They draw out the best in him. They're mirrors of each other. They're pillars of support for one another. They're both willing to do anything for each other. Even if that anything is growing past spiteful pride and unwillingness to admit to fault. Even if that anything is opening up your heart to a potential knife, dropping a mask of playfulness and detachment, showing the vulnerable skin underneath.

My two ships. Proudly waving them around. There's more stuff to Grollow, namely PVxGrimm pairing (so, pre-Temple). Moon expands on that a bit (I think it's in the already posted chapter, even) and Dreams has it because of shared interests, shared character traits and, again, Grimm's unwillingness to coddle them or evade them for any reason. Means a lot to them.

He certainly didn’t want to lead the Mystics in Slash or Ozzie’s absence. Deep down, Flea didn’t desire that kind of responsibility. He had only accepted Ozzie’s promotion to become one of his Generals as a means to get away from grunt-work. Ideally, he'd resign as the Void Mage General and go life a pampered life away from the fighting.

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

Being in the zone, when the muse hits and inspo's overflowing and I just want to run around the room and gnaw on the walls because I WANT EVERYONE TO SEE THIS COOL THING I'VE JUST THOUGHT UP Alternatively, being able to put all the half-coherent daydreams onto paper or into a doc and see them slowly progress from "hey this is a cool idea" to "oh wow this has the potential to be SO MUCH MORE".

12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules

I'd probably wish for steady and limitless reserves of motivation/inspiration to write, non-descript (so it can vary from fic to OC but it's always there). Then, um. I think it'd be reasonable to wish for some good dialogue skills, but there's a certain charm in getting there on my own and seeing the progress, so idk dsgfds The final wish, genie, please go talk to Word and tell it that "puppeteered" and "puppeted" are, indeed, real English words. I can't anymore.

14. Do you lend your books to people? Are people scared to borrow books from you? Do you know exactly where all your “lost” books are and which specific friend from school you haven’t seen in twelve years still possesses them? Will you ever get them back?

I rarely do, and that means "I have exactly one friend whom I trust enough to borrow my physical copies." In general, I only have collectors' edition physical books and those are Not Just For Anyone To Borrow. I think that said friend has one of my art books. Not entirely sure, though, may need to check.

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

No. Or yes. I tend to go from extreme to extreme, so either I organise stuff in a separate Discord server with 10+ channels or I keep it all in my head and only leave myself scattered cryptic notes in a chat with myself. No in between.

I prefer digital storing, because I can just pull my phone out at any given moment and add whatever idea comes to mind that I want to save.

25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?

Grimm gets into verbal fights with inanimate objects. Hollow, sometimes, finds that quirk of his Very Amusing, for which they are promptly rewarded with a dead-pan stare.

Hmm. Unironic Grimm/PK, I suppose? I think they're funny as divorced but that's it- purely a joke. I'm more of a Grollow or Grimm/OC guy so... you know. Lol

PK. Absolutely PK. I can't stand him. He is a great, GREAT character, dont get me wrong, wonderfully written, but I hate him lmao.

Um. I dunno. I wouldn't call it 'unpopular' on the non-YouTube side of the fandom, but Herrah definitely is not the "eager to murder, evil bitch" they all think she is.

The fact that like 90% of the fandom is eager to harass people over opinions that differ from their own. But that's a problem with like, every fucking fandom. Just a few months ago I saw someone get GENUINELY harassed by MULTIPLE PEOPLE just because they put a "you think bugs are human sized" option on a fucking poll. The hell is wrong with you? The poll-maker didnt even play the game!!!!! You were just harassing some innocent bystander for NO REASON!!! [Just to spite them I firmly believe they're human sized now lol]

20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?

Ermmmm... I dunno. Ze'mer and the Traitor Lords daughter? Herrah and Vespa is also very good.

20. How do they comfort each other when one of them is upset? Is this method of comfort effective?

Shatter: Hollow hovers close, starting with giving love through acts of service. They're very, very quiet but also there for everything he might want, all the smallest things - they know exactly, after a while in the relationship, what might comfort him and better his mood. If that doesn't help, they gently nudge him to talk, tall them what happened and how he's feeling about it; after he does, they validate that and then try to search for an answer (what set him off so bad and how to avoid it in the future? why does he feel like his reaction is unreasonable, maybe?) or for a solution. They're definitely the type to go "who upset you. i just want to talk to them. who did it." while holding a nail in their hand. Grimm goes for distraction tactics a whole lot. If he notices they're upset, he will go out of his way to "annoy" them, mostly just telling them random pleasant stuff (a lot of eloquent "i love you"s may get dropped - they act like they hate that, but it helps them immensely and he knows it) and making cute noises/cuddling them if they feel up for it. If the upset's bad, he will drop everything and just straight up ask them to talk. No assumptions, no hidden meanings, everything that they're thinking despite how unpleasant and ugly it may be. Usually, just talking out loud and having him direct them towards a resolution solves the upset.

Dreams: Hollow stays close with a very, very big puppy eyes often, not sure how to really help - they ask how he'd like them to help rather than do stuff silently. Bad upsets they're great at solving and working through emotions; they're honestly great at that whenever it's not them feeling those emotions. Where they'd doubt their own reasonable-ness, they will tell him every time that what he's feeling is very real and very worthy of upset. Grimm is, like Cutie, the type to have his hands on fire and ready to incinerate whoever hurt them. (It's true for other Troupe members as well: he's very, very protective and possessive of them all.) He gets angry for them very easily, and it scares them at the very beginning, before they get used to it and begin to feel very, very safe. Oftentimes, he won't drop his bantering/teasing tone with them even when solving upsets - but if it's bad, he will go serious immediately, and has quite a talent for finding that one phrase that can make them reconsider the entire situation and see another perspective on it, thus solving the primary issue of "i shouldn't be upset in the first place" and letting them move on to the actual fixing of the problem.

23. What are the defining characteristics of their relationship?

Both AUs: trust. Trust and understanding. Understanding of each other so deep that they don't need words or any other communication to know what they need to know. IE: Shatter Hollow sees cues in Grimm that no one else, save for one of the Troupe members, does. They know how to react to all of those. They know how to enhance the best of his days and how to make the worst of those better. It works in reverse as well. They both know what the other is really feeling, no matter how much they may try to hide that. And it doesn't matter how they act on the surface, as is more prominently the case with Dreams pairing: they're way less straightforwardly mushy and they both suffer from the Wordy Bitch Disease, but they just don't... misunderstand one another after a while. Because love, to all of them, is safety. It's home. It's a place where you will never be invalidated or belittled, where you never have to watch your step lest you shatter the thin ice you're walking on. It's knowing that no matter what you do, no matter how much you fuck up, no matter how much you hurt and what words you say, the other will not give up on you without trying. "I don't want to require you - I want to want you. I want to be on my own, a full piece with no parts missing, and choose you despite that. Over and over, every waking and dreaming moment, I want you to improve something already great."
